The first Seion Methodist Chapel, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, was built in 1833-1834, and altered 1845 and 1869. Classrooms were added in 1870, and a chapel house and detached Sunday School in 1892. The present chapel is the rebuilding of 1904, by Shayler and Ridge of Oswestry who produced an unusually fine Arts and Crafts chapel design which is amongst the best in Wales. It is one of only two Welsh chapels listed Grade II*. The rebuilding, which incorporated some of the original chapel, has been altered subsequently by replacing the battlements and a recessed needle spire on the right-hand tower with an overhanging pyramid roof. It is built in the local creamy-grey coloured stone, with red sandstone dressings to the window surrounds, and  slate roofs.
