St Peter's Anglican Church was built in 1843-1846 on land sold to the Diocese of Ripon by Elizabeth Lawrence, owner of the adjacent farmhouse, and became a separate chapelry in July 1844. It later became a parish church. A village school had been built on adjoining land in 1834. The area has always been thinly populated and the congregation small. Services ceased in 2012 and the church was formally closed for worship on 1 June 2017.
