New Build
Externally the house exhibits a fairly conventional half-timbered vernacular revival style, but the complex handling of the internal planning at The Shanty broke new ground. At the heart of the plan is a double-height living hall with a dramatic staircase and half-landing brought forward into the hall space to give access to an organ gallery over the main inglenook fireplace.
