United Methodist Chapel, Lowerfield, Rochdale
OPENING OF THE NEW CHAPEL AT LOWERFOLD - On Sunday, 24th ult., the United Methodist Chapel, at Lowerfold, the foundation stone of which was laid in June last year by Mr. Councillor R. Lord, was opened for service. We have already published a full description of the building, but it may be stated that the chapel will hold 500 worshippers, and is Italian in its style of architecture. The interior has a very neat appearance with open pews of novel construction, and is warmed with hot air. It has been constructed more with a view to comfort and durability than elaborate decoration, and the outlay has been kept within the original estimate. Mr. Thomas Shore, of Healey, contracted for the building. and has done his work in an exceedingly creditable manner, under the direction of Mr. Macdougall, architect, Wellington Chambers, Rochdale.
