St. Mark's parish dates to 1872, as the population of Bury increased with the industrial revolution. The present parish was created in 1983 with the union of the benefice of St Mark & St Johns. On the closure of St Mark's Church, a worship centre was opened in the former vicarage, with a ground floor chapel and small meeting room. This centre has closed and the congregation is now worshiping in the Library in the Church Hall.
