Spalding and Cross
Following the death of his then partner, Patrick Auld, on 4 March 1889, Henry Spalding took Alfred W S Cross into partnership. Between 1889 and 1899 they enjoyed considerable success in architectural competitions, receiving first premium for Dulwich Baths, London (1890); Camberwell Baths, London (1890); Finchley Road Congregational Church, London; Coventry Public Baths (1892-1894), in association with Harold Burgess; and LCC Millbank Estate, London (1897). However, their most significant successes were in Manchester where they were awarded first premium for Artisans Dwellings, Oldham Road (1891) and Manchester Technical School (1892).
The partnership was dissolved through effluxion of time in June 1899.
