William Arthur Deighton was born in Stretford, Manchester, the youngest son of Thomas Deighton, flannel merchant, and his wife Hannah Thornley. He commenced independent practice in Manchester about 1881 but little is known of his subsequent architectural career save for his designs for Threlfall’s Brewery, Cook Street Salford and Mitchell’s Brewery, Lancaster.

William Arthur Deighton died on 17 March 1915 and was buried in Stretford Cemetery
