WESLEYANISM AT DEARNLEY STONE LAYING CEREMONY – The village of Dearnley was “en fete” on Saturday, when the corner stones of the new Wesleyan church were laid. …The new church is to be in the late Gothic style of architecture. The walls will be faced externally with Yorkshire parpoints and ashlar stone dressings. There will be two entrances, and large traceried windows to front and transepts. Between the new building and the present premises will be a tower and spire 60 feet in height. The floor of the vestibule will be laid with ceramic mosaic and the aisles with wood blocks. The whole of the glazing is to be of lead lights. The internal woodwork including an open timbered roof, will be of pitch pine. Accommodation will be provided fir 360 worshippers, with choir and scholars' galleries, minister's vestry, etc. The cost, including that of the alterations to present premises, will, it is estimated, amount to £2,600.
