Reginald John F Worcester was a son of John Bray Worcester, MA Oxford, and grandson of Frederick Worcester of Coventry. The family traced its pedigree back for 200 years and claimed to have descended from King Henry IV, son of John of Gaunt. He was born in Summertown, Oxford.

In the first decade of the twentieth century he was employed as an Assistant Architect in the CWS Manchester. Unusually he was given credit as job architect on a number of projects carried out by the CWS Architects Department. In 1912 he left the CWS and entered into a brief partnership with Newby. In 1930 he was employed by Oldham Corporation Electricity Works[Manchester Guardian 7 August 1930 page 13] and appears to have remained in Oldham.
