Arthur James Murgatroyd continued the firm of Mills and Murgatroyd following his father’s death in 1894 remaining senior partner for the next 37 years. During this period the firm designed some twenty branches of the Manchester and County Bank Limited, and many warehouses. Arthur James Murgatroyd was also architect to the Manchester Board of Guardians. The practice ceased on his death in 1931.
